GOLF COURSE
What can I say? The comments I have received from members, professionals
and visitors to the club have all be very complimentary and rightly
so.
We have a golf course to be proud of, and the work from the course
manager, George Pitts and the greens committee, should be congratulated.
There have been some negative comments as regards the Gorse cutting,
but I can assure you that the programme in place is for no other
reason than to enhance the golf course challenge as well as
improve the aesthetics
overall. Please afford the team the time to show you the results,
of which I am sure you will be more than pleased.
Congratulations to George and his team and thank you for your support.
The short game practise facilities are still ongoing with plans,
finance permitting, to develop towards the north of the practise
area, instead
of the original plans starting behind the 1st green. This is after
taking into account the residents, Maristow Estate’s and Dartmoor
Park’s considerations, with more discussions to take place.
A new financial agreement with the commoners has been reached with
a 10 year contract to be reviewed, if necessary over 5 years.
Gary Hawking and the Greens Committee are a ‘bunch’ of
chaps passionate about the golf course! You will not find a more committed
greens gathering in any other club and I implore you to please support
them with their target, of showing off our great golf course, as the ‘jewel’ that
it is, and will be more so!
Gary and team, many thanks for all your hard work and support! I
will become a disciple of your vision and will “spread the word”.
