Yelverton Golf Club

Welcome to the Pounders section of the Yelverton Golf Club web site

Pounders have been turning up regularly, whatever the weather, every Tuesday and Thursday morning for over 21 years. From humble beginnings it has evolved into a well organised group who wish to play golf in a competitive but friendly environment. In 2009 our average attendance on a Tuesday was around 36 with an average 24 members turning out on a Thursday. Statistically over 50 members of Yelverton Golf Club played in excess of 2000 rounds followed by a drink and something to eat in the club house afterwards. For 2010 we already have a list of 56 members ranging in age from those in their 30's upwards and even boast a couple who still play a competitive round of golf who are in their 80's.

The group recognise the importance of supporting Yelverton Golf Club and have done this in a variety of ways including organising many fund raising events over the years.

The accompanying pages of this web site clearly demonstrate all that is good about our section. Friendly but competitive, well organised but with the emphasis on fun the bond within this group strengthens each year.

I was previously a member of two golf clubs, one in Sussex and the other in Lancashire before joining Yelverton and I make no secret that by joining Pounders I was playing more golf with many more different people in the first six months here than I was able to achieve in the first couple of years at the other clubs.

I am proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of people and I will do everything possible to ensure that both existing and new members of Yelverton Golf Club receive a warm and welcome reception if they wish to join us on either a Tuesday or a Thursday.
