South West of England Open Winter Foursomes 2009-10

MATCH PLAY UNDER HANDICAP

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. Open to any combination of Ladies, Gentlemen and Professionals; Ladies to play from Red Tees, and off C.O.N.G.U. Handicaps. The allowance will be half of the full difference between the aggregate handicaps of either side (half to count as one). Lady amateurs will receive the benefit of three additional strokes, before the handicap adjustment has been made. All Professionals to play off scratch. Maximum Handicap - Gentlemen 24, Ladies 30.
N.B. It is a condition of the competition that handicaps may be cut during the competition, but cannot be increased.

2. Entry forms should be forwarded to the Secretary, Yelverton Golf Club, accompanied by the Entrance Fee of £35.00 per pair for Visitors, £25.00 per pair for Yelverton members; this includes entry to the Plate competition. Entries, limited to 128 pairs, close on Friday 25th September 2009 - balloting may occur if over subscribed.

3. No practice is allowed on the course on the days of the rounds. One practice round only may be played, on payment of £12.00 green fee per person, at any time except Saturdays, provided the entrance fee has been paid.

4. The draw will take place on Saturday 26th September 2009, and competitors will be
informed through their Club. The draw will be posted on the Club web-site: www.yelvertongolf.co.uk, as will all results and start times for subsequent rounds. Entries may not be altered after the first round, regardless of whether a match has been played.

5. Matches will be played:-
FIRST round on Sunday 11th October and Sunday 18th October 2009
SECOND round on Sunday 1st November 2009.
THIRD round on Sunday 15th November 2009.
FOURTH round on Sunday 29th November 2009 plus Plate QR.
QUARTER FINALS on Sunday 10th January 2010;plus Plate QF.
SEMI-FINALS on Sunday 24th January 2010; plus Plate SF.
FINALS on Sunday 7th February 2010 plus 3rd/4th Place Play-off,
5th-8th Place Play-off, and Plate Final.

In the event of any round or matches being postponed or suspended due to the weather, or the course conditions, that round, or those matches, will be played on the date set for the following round.

6. The third/fourth place play-off will be played on Finals Day. The fifth to eighth place play-off will be decided by a Foursomes Medal, off half combined handicap, played on Finals Day.

7. Prizes for the winners to the value of £300 per pair, other prizes subject to entries. A further prize of £650 will be awarded to the winning or last Professional in the competition, £400 to the second last, £125 to third last, £100 to fourth last Professional.

8. Plate Competition All First and Second Round losers will be eligible to enter the Plate competition; the entry fee is included in the competition fee. Players wishing to enter this competition should submit their names to the Tournament Organiser on the day they were knocked-out. A Foursomes Medal qualifying competition, played off half the combined handicap, will be played at the same time as Round 4 of the main competition. The top 8 scores will qualify for the quarter final, to be played at the same time as the main competition.

9. Men's Stroke Index to be used for all matches.

10. The Competition Committee reserves the right to add to, alter or amend any of these conditions, and their decision shall be final.

11. All players are requested to report to the Secretary 15 minutes before commencing play in the first round, and to the Starter in all subsequent rounds (Rule 6-3). Winners must report the result of their match - failure to do so may render them ineligible for the next round.

12. N.B. Competitors are advised to bring light bags should there be a ban on trolleys.
