Yelverton v Staddon Heights Centenary Match

Captain Mike Ferris and his team made history by wrestling away the Centenary Trophy from Staddon Heights for the first ever time! At the sixth attempt it came down to the Juniors to turn the tide and their ten point margin of victory was enough to give the hosts a six point win!

This competition is unique in its format as it is a team of eight men, eight ladies and six juniors. The weather could not have been better, Staddon played really well, lead by their captain Phil and players from each club played in the right spirit of the game.

Although there were many great individual performances the star of the day was undoubtedly the anchorman (or boy) Reece Groves. With the Juniors a player short, he took on the might of Staddon all on his own and his contribution was the difference between winning and losing!
